(Worthy News) – Vice President JD Vance said the United States should maintain its close partnership with Israel without treating agreement with its government as a condition of that relationship.
Speaking at the All-In Summit on Tuesday, Vance described Israel as an important partner in military technology and intelligence sharing. But allies sometimes see their interests differently, he said, and Washington must be able to make its own decisions.
Vance said Trump has shown a willingness to “part ways” with Netanyahu when he believes American interests call for it. He compared that approach with U.S. ties to NATO: a valuable alliance, he argued, does not settle every foreign policy question for the United States. His comments described how the administration approaches disagreements; he did not announce a change in U.S. policy toward Israel.
A close relationship, with room for disagreement
U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee offered another view of the relationship in an interview reported by The Times of Israel. He said Trump and Netanyahu remain close and that the two countries work closely together, including on Iran.
The administration is also pursuing a proposed $2.8 billion weapons sale to Israel.
