(Worthy News) – President Donald Trump met with his national security team Wednesday and Thursday to consider resuming major military operations against Iran, as U.S. forces finalize preparations for a possible new offensive aimed at permanently dismantling Tehran’s nuclear capabilities.
Senior administration officials confirmed the White House meetings to Fox News, while Axios reported that U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) is completing preparations for renewed large-scale combat operations but has not received authorization from Washington to proceed.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office Thursday, Trump said his administration would soon decide whether further strikes were necessary to ensure Iran could never rebuild its nuclear program.
“I would rather not destroy the rest of the country if possible, but maybe I will have to. You’ll know soon enough,” Trump warned.
Military officials also reportedly noted that November 9 marks a new moon over the Middle East, providing exceptionally dark nighttime conditions that could favor military operations.
The deliberations come just days after Republicans suffered major losses in Tuesday’s midterm elections, potentially complicating Trump’s ability to sustain military operations once the newly elected Congress convenes in January.
Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts continue. According to Axios, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has held discussions with regional mediators, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Oman, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, in an effort to prevent renewed hostilities.
Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi also spoke with Trump Thursday, warning that Iraqi territory must not be used to launch attacks against neighboring countries. Baghdad emphasized respect for national sovereignty and urged diplomatic solutions to prevent the conflict from spreading.
