(Worthy News) – President Donald Trump urged Republicans on Wednesday to make November’s congressional elections a defense of his agenda, arguing that border security, tax cuts and public safety depend on keeping his party in control of Congress.
The two-day gathering opened with Republicans seeking to build enthusiasm and prevent a Democratic takeover.
“I’m asking you to pretend that I’m on the ballot,” Trump said in his keynote address. “Just one more time.” He touted his immigration record and warned that Democratic victories would threaten his policies.
Trump also promised a $5,000 dividend for every adult if Republicans hold the House and Senate. The report did not explain how the payments would be financed or authorized. He said he would hold large rallies for Republicans facing competitive races.
