(Worthy News) – Dozens of Israeli fighter jets conducted a large-scale military exercise near Iran’s border this week, demonstrating Israel’s ability to project airpower deep into the Middle East as tensions mount over the possibility of renewed strikes against Tehran.
The operation, conducted Monday approximately 800 miles from Israel, was reported by Axios correspondent Barak Ravid. Sources described the mission as both a training exercise and a deliberate demonstration of military strength, rather than an actual attack.
The United States was reportedly notified beforehand. However, American sources suggested Israeli officials may have anticipated an Iranian response that could provide justification for retaliatory strikes.
The show of force follows a Financial Times report that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered preparations for a major military offensive against Iran earlier this month, only to suspend the operation after President Donald Trump opposed renewed hostilities ahead of the November 3 U.S. midterm elections.
The proposed campaign reportedly included strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities, energy infrastructure, and regime-linked targets, potentially exceeding the scale of the joint U.S.-Israeli offensive launched in February.
Despite the postponed operation, military action remains a possibility as Washington presses Tehran toward an agreement addressing its nuclear program and the Strait of Hormuz.
The latest Israeli maneuver underscores a growing reality in the region: diplomatic negotiations continue, but Israel is making clear that its military options remain firmly on the table.
