(Worthy News) – Israel launched a massive two-day military exercise Sunday, simulating coordinated surprise attacks across multiple fronts as tensions with Iran intensify and security forces prepare for potential attacks ahead of Tuesday’s national elections.
The exercises, involving four military divisions and the Israeli Air Force, are designed to test Israel’s ability to repel terrorist infiltrations by land and air, defend border communities, and rapidly transition from defensive operations to offensive strikes.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the maneuvers incorporate lessons learned from Hamas’ October 7, 2023, terrorist attacks, which exposed serious vulnerabilities in Israel’s border defenses.
The drills involve the Northern Command’s 210th Division, the Judea and Samaria Division, and the 98th and 96th divisions, with forces operating across northern and central Israel.
Iran Escalation Raises Fears of Another Surprise Attack
The exercises follow an Iranian military demonstration involving approximately 30 ballistic missiles and an Israeli Air Force operation on October 19, when fighter jets supported by aerial refueling aircraft flew more than 800 miles toward Iran’s border in a significant show of force.
Israeli military chief Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir warned last week that the danger of regional escalation was increasing, prompting additional troop deployments and heightened military readiness.
Israeli national security analyst Dr. Ehud Eilam told Fox News that the exercises are primarily intended to counter threats from Iranian-backed groups and other hostile forces operating in Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan.
Eilam also invoked the 1973 Yom Kippur War, when Egypt and Syria concealed preparations for their surprise offensive behind military exercises.
He warned that heightened military activity on both sides could lead to a dangerous miscalculation, particularly if either Israel or Iran mistakenly interprets defensive preparations as an imminent attack.
Meanwhile, Israel National News reported that the IDF has reinforced its forces, increased air-defense readiness, and canceled leave in some military units ahead of the elections.
The IDF emphasized that the exercises were scheduled in advance and were not triggered by a specific intelligence warning.
Nevertheless, with Iran and Israel closely monitoring each other’s military movements, the exercises underscore growing concerns that another regional confrontation could erupt with little warning.
