(Worthy News) – Iran-backed Houthi terrorists in Yemen are attempting to manufacture advanced ballistic missiles using Chinese-supplied components, potentially giving the group the ability to strike targets throughout Israel and Saudi Arabia, according to an exclusive report by The Wall Street Journal.
The findings, detailed in an investigation by Conflict Armament Research (CAR), reveal that the Houthis are working to produce their own version of Iran’s Kheibar Shekan precision-guided missile, a sophisticated weapon capable of traveling approximately 1,200 miles.
The development represents a significant escalation in the terrorist organization’s military capabilities, potentially reducing its dependence on direct Iranian weapons shipments while expanding its ability to threaten Israel, Saudi Arabia, and American interests throughout the Middle East.
Chinese Components Fuel Houthi Missile Program
According to the Journal, Yemeni authorities intercepted two shipments in 2025 containing specialized missile components concealed among commercial goods.
Investigators identified precision-machined metal parts, missile stabilizing fins, solid-fuel rocket motor components, testing equipment, and heat-resistant materials necessary for constructing advanced ballistic missiles.
Shipping documents identified a Chinese aerospace-component manufacturer as a supplier, although investigators have not independently verified the company’s involvement.
The Kheibar Shekan missile is particularly dangerous because of its mobility, precision, and ability to maneuver during its final approach, complicating interception by advanced air-defense systems.
China maintains that it complies with United Nations restrictions on arms transfers to the Houthis. However, investigators say Chinese companies have become a major source of components found in intercepted shipments destined for the terrorist organization.
Growing Threat to Israel and Saudi Arabia
The revelations come as the Houthis intensify attacks against Saudi Arabia, including recent strikes targeting airports and critical oil infrastructure.
The Associated Press separately reported that the intercepted shipments were intended for Yemen’s Hodeidah port, a strategic entry point long associated with Iranian weapons transfers.
Military analysts warn that domestic missile production could allow the Houthis to sustain attacks despite international efforts to disrupt Iranian supply routes.
While investigators have not established whether the Houthis have successfully completed production of the new missile, the discovery demonstrates their growing ambition to develop sophisticated weapons independently.
The findings also raise questions about China’s role in the expanding regional conflict, particularly as Beijing maintains substantial economic relationships with both Iran and Saudi Arabia.
Iran’s Expanding Proxy Threat
The Houthis, who adhere to a revolutionary Shiite Islamist ideology, have repeatedly threatened Israel and the United States while portraying their military campaign as part of a broader confrontation with Western powers.
Their movement incorporates religious expectations surrounding the Mahdi, an anticipated end-times figure in Shiite Islamic eschatology. Although Houthi religious ideology differs from Iran’s Twelver Shiism, both movements employ apocalyptic and revolutionary themes in their confrontation with Israel and the West.
The latest revelations underscore a growing regional danger: even as Iran faces sustained military pressure, its allies are developing increasingly independent capabilities that could prolong the conflict and threaten Israel from multiple fronts.
