Antisemitic Violence Reaches Deadliest Global Level in More Than 30 Years

New report records more than 23,000 incidents across seven major Jewish communities

by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Washington D.C. Bureau Chief

(Worthy News) – Antisemitic violence worldwide reached its deadliest level in more than three decades during 2025, according to a new report documenting a sharp escalation in threats and attacks against Jewish communities.

The J7 Large Communities’ Task Force Against Antisemitism recorded more than 23,000 antisemitic incidents across the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Australia, Canada and Argentina. Twenty people were killed in antisemitic attacks—the highest annual death toll since 1994.

The report found that violent incidents across the seven nations had risen 97% since 2022, while the total number of reported antisemitic incidents increased 136%. Researchers warned that anti-Jewish hatred is no longer restricted to fringe movements but has increasingly entered universities, public demonstrations, online platforms and everyday life.

Australia experienced a 270% increase in incidents since 2021 and suffered the deadliest attack of the year when 15 people were killed during a Hanukkah celebration at Sydney’s Bondi Beach. Germany reported the highest per-capita rate, with 8,725 incidents—or nearly 70 incidents for every 1,000 Jewish residents.

The United States recorded 6,274 incidents in 2025, including attacks affecting at least 300 victims. Although the overall number declined from the record levels of 2024, physical assaults rose, and attacks involving deadly weapons increased by 39%. Three people were murdered in antisemitic attacks in Washington, D.C., and Boulder, Colorado.

Jewish organizations warned that governments must move beyond condemning antisemitism after attacks occur and take stronger steps to protect synagogues, schools and public gatherings. The report also found that many Jews are increasingly concealing their identity in public and questioning whether they have a secure future in the countries they have long called home.

A Prophetic Echo: The Hunters of Jeremiah 16

For many Bible-believing Christians, the accelerating hostility toward Jewish communities carries a sobering prophetic echo. In Jeremiah 16:14–16, the Lord promises to gather the Jewish people from the nations where they had been scattered, declaring that He would first send “fishers” and afterward “hunters” who would drive them from places of dispersion.

Some prophecy teachers understand the “fishers” as those who lovingly call the Jewish people home to Israel, while the “hunters” represent persecution and antisemitism that make life increasingly unsafe in the nations. The passage does not excuse hatred or violence; it exposes the darkness of antisemitism while pointing to God’s enduring covenant faithfulness.

As Jewish families once again face fear, intimidation and bloodshed across the world, the words of Jeremiah deserve careful attention. History has repeatedly shown that rising antisemitism can become a force pushing Jewish communities toward their ancestral homeland. What the enemy intends for destruction, God remains able to turn toward preservation, restoration, and the fulfillment of His promises to Israel.
